Simply Stunning Two Bedroom Maisonette in Progressive Building

Our local skyline has been magnificently enhanced thanks to Bespoke Homes, the creators of this eye-catching building on the East Dulwich/Camberwell borders. A mixture of natural materials are used on the external facade, while inside the apartments have deliberately well chosen fittings in uncluttered, vital space. These duplex properties take the first four floors of the building and enjoy two double bedrooms (one having a mezzanine balcony), downstairs w.c., fully equipped kitchen with integrated appliances, underfloor heating plus a two private balconies. Outside, a communal courtyard enjoys state-of-the-art benches and you can park the bike in the covered bicycle store.

Enter via a secure entry system through a heavy, flat slate-grey door. This opens into a courtyard having decked floor and wood benches with stone cages. Each property has matching grey front doors with sandblasted glass panels for external walls. Inside, find a wonderful kitchen area that opens out to a dining zone, then a reclining area. Dark wood units line the kitchen walls while a steel mesh cage hangs from the ceiling providing extra storage. Sinks are formed from concrete and worktops are solid oak. The ceiling is part exposed concrete from the build process and part finished in plaster, lending some post-modern faculties. At the far end of the room, floor to ceiling windows give glorious views towards the south, maximised by the building's position near the crest of a hill. Access a private, decked balcony from here, ideal for swigging a mojito in the warmer months. Concealed behind oak panelling to the right of the room is a useful downstairs w.c. with superb off-white rubber flooring that extends and curves up the walls a little way. A stone basin is inset into the wall (Barbican style) with a striking glass splash-back in vibrant lemon, while a concealed cistern aids the minimal styling. A healthy sized larder cupboard is next door, again behind a push-and-release oak veneered door.

The place is thoughtfully lit throughout via wall-hung and recessed strip lights; the staircase enjoys cleverly applied wall-hung lights and a contrasting wall of solid black gloss to the left. The banister is solid glass, while the north bedroom has a translucent recess ideal as desk space, plus that entire wall of sandblasted glass panels that form the exterior of the building. Centrally placed up here is a beautifully chosen bathroom with an angular Philippe Stark tub having a svelte shower head fitted above. The stone basin matches the one downstairs, there is an identical white rubber floor, coloured glass splash-back, plus concealed cistern to the w.c. Deep, mirrored cabinets hang over the basin area and travel all the way up to the ceiling; tiles are oversized and elegant in a caramel shade. A mezzanine bedroom faces the south facade and peers down to the reception below. The double height windows give fabulous views from the luxury of your pillow; solid glass panels frame the area without stealing any light. A door opens out to a 'standing room' balcony from here.

Choose either Denmark Hill or East Dulwich stations for the daily commute (London Bridge, Victoria and Blackfriars); both are a 5 minute stroll. An enviable array of bars and restaurants on Lord-hip Lane should keep you occupied, while Camberwell too can offer an alternative drinking ground. There are many good boutiques and gift shops close by, plus a fab deli, organic butchers, grocers and wet fish shop in East Dulwich. Take a picnic to Ruskin Park, Dulwich Park or Peckham Rye in the summer.
